Bangkok
2018-2019
In late 2018, I took a leap of faith and moved to Bangkok, Thailand, for a new job and career opportunity, leaving behind the comfortable bubble that I was in. In hindsight, the move changed my life for the better, even though it wasn’t a smooth transition, having to leave behind Pierre and my family. However, the challenges I faced both personally and at work made me grow a lot as a person and as a professional.
Here I’m sharing some of my day-to-day wanders while living in Bangkok.
Chatuchak Weekend Market
Welcome to my new life in Bangkok, an endless wandering into the many markets and malls, bazaars, and night markets of Bangkok. Naturally, the first one I tried to tackle on my own was the very famous Chatuchak market. I'm not even going to try and explain to you what it's all about.
Tropical Dream
Living with a semi-capsule closet gets you creative in finding various ways to wear whatever pieces you have. Fortunately my years of style blogging taught me to curate versatile pieces that I can mix and match any day so it's safe to say I got the whole thing down pat. Case in point, this outfit which I am wearingthe exact same overalls from my previous post.
Chalerm La Park. A Graffiti Jungle
I could not be happier to find this really really sick place in Bangkok which is surprisingly quite deserted. It's not entirely a secret as I think a lot of people know about it but just kind of forget it does exist.
Summer in Winter | Pattaya Beach Weekend
Continuing on from my previous post, here are the visuals from the next day. After the shock of Pattaya at night, my brothers and I woke up to a better-looking, seemingly more family-friendly Pattaya.
Pattaya At Night
Just before the Christmas holidays, my little brothers came to visit me in the Land of Smiles. It was the perfect excuse for me to plan a short weekend getaway from the city and venture out to explore nearby towns. First up of course, one not to miss (or so I thought) was Pattaya beach.
Heat Proof Street Style
Bangkok's air situation is so bad, if you can't tell from these photos, I don't know what else. Between the heat and humid, pollution is an issue that one of my IG friends whom I met in Bangkok some weeks ago is convinced she could die of the city's pollution. At this point, I can't agree more.
Temple Run
A quick update for ya'll! Finally finished editing this short VLOG that I did when Pierre was here visiting and we both did the ultimate tourist things, one of course including a visit to the magnificent Wat Arun and Wat Pho temples. They're literally across the river from each other which makes them both super easy to access and visit in one day.
Selfies & Balancing Act
Whenever I go out on my own in this city, I challenge myself to take photos as much as I can, shamelessly posing in-front of my camera where it's able to stand and masterfully take an outfit photo. I say "an" because generally, I'm happy to get even just one decent shot.
Hipster Vibes at The Commons
A month in and I think Ive pretty much done rounded most of the street markets in Bangkok. I'm now on the hunt for chill spots that I can frequent on weekends; places that won't require me to walk a lot but still where I can see people because let's be honest, while I'm starting to like living out here, it gets lonely. I'm so used to having Penguin just a phone call away and we'd do everything together.
Weekend Routine
Since I got here, I've been exploring the street markets and the malls on my own, and when Pierre came, I took him to the same areas that I did on my first few days here.
Photo Diary
First on ouR to do list was to go shopping. Our timing couldn't be more perfect for a visit to Chatuchak, one of the world's biggest weekend markets. It's one of the things I was looking forward to during the trip.
Hello from Bangkok!
We arrived in Bangkok very late last night and I've had close to zero hours of sleep since. I can't tell you enough just how I'm already loving this wonderful city and all its colors!
