Amsterdam Visuals

Amsterdam. I can't begin to describe how much I came to love his city. People are approachable; helpful. Everybody speaks English. Ask away and you're given full answers. Say hello and you're greeted back with the same warmth and smile you gave. The atmosphere is so laid-back.

It's true what I heard about this city - every corner you turn you smell the aroma of weed; on the streets, in the shops, on the parks. Penguin and I always joke around that this is precisely why everybody here seems to be always in a good mood; so happy; so chill, like there isn't a problem that can't be solved. I don't know if it's just us but every time we go back to our hotel room after a full day of running around the city, we always felt so high. High in life and having all these new experiences. People would speak to us in Dutch as if we seemed to know the language. To be fair, it's pretty easy to understand and I even assume that I can learn Dutch way faster than I can master my Cantonese or Mandarin.

And then there's the streetstyle, notably inspired by streetwear fashion. Men and women in layers; layers and layers of clothing from long tees to overcoats; boxy tops and skinny bottoms. Sneakers dominate the streets as if they're the only shoes available nationwide. The way I dress is too normal for their standard and it's the best part about being here. Being blonde, blending in, having people identify us as locals, we definitely feel that we belong.
